offhand, "web address" or whatever seems nominally fine amongst "civilians", 
while I'd want to use the more precise and carefully thought out technical 
terms in specs.

this discussion illustrates the difficulties we get ourselves into when we try 
to have technical terms also serve double duty as colloquial everyday terms, 
for use amongst "civilians", and/or when technical folk are not precise in 
their terminology.

IMV, anyway, FWIW.
