Interesting enough, both Sun (JSR-311) and Microsoft (see 
<http://sessions.visitmix.com/default.asp?event=1011&session=2012&pid=DEV03&disc=&id=1512&year=2007&search=DEV03>) 
use URI templates in new server frameworks. I'm a bit worried that this 
happens before there's agreement about how the more tricky parts are 
supposed to work...
