W3C style for dates: 2002-05-06 or 6 May, not 5/6 nor 6/5

In section 5. Internationalization
  http://www.w3.org/2001/06/manual/#I18n

please remind folks that using 5/6 to denote
a date is ambiguous in the international context;
either spell out the month (6 May) or
use an ISO-8601-derived* form: 2002-05-06.

* in particular, cite the relevant bit
of XML Schema part 2 for how dates should
be written in XML documents.
