[ANN] Ontogen: A New Version Control System for RDF Datasets

Dear Semantic Web Community,


I am pleased to introduce Ontogen - a new version control system specifically designed for RD. After a year of intensive development, made possible through the generous support of the NLnet Foundation, Ontogen is now available in an early version.


Ontogen offers several innovative approaches to versioning RDF data:


1. Utilization of RDF-star as a foundation for versioning, allowing for fine-grained control without the drawbacks of Named Graphs.
2. A Speech Act-based commit model that enables detailed tracking of data provenance and evolution.
3. Integration with the PROV vocabulary for comprehensive provenance information.
4. Implementation as a DCAT service with repositories as DCAT catalogs.


While Ontogen is still in an early stage of development and some important extensions are pending (such as full RDF dataset support and branching), I hope it can already be useful for some use cases.
