Open position on knowledge-enabled robotics in the Semantic Computing Group, Bielefeld University

There is an open PhD researcher position on knowledge-enabled robotics in the Semantic Computing Group [1] at Bielefeld University.

The successful candidate will work on the following:
 
1) knowledge representation and modelling to support robot manipulation tasks
2) development of methods for the acquisition of common sense, object and naive physics knowledge
3) developing simulation environments that show the impact of acquired or modelled knowledge
4) evaluation of the methods through benchmarking exercises in simulations or real robot platforms

Position requirements:
- MSc in computer science, software engineering, intelligent systems or related field
- demonstrated ability to work scientifically (e.g. through Master thesis or publications)
- strong analytical, conceptual and communicative skills
- ability to work in a larger team
- strong programming skills

The following aspects are a plus:
- experience in developing ontologies
- experience with the development of robotic platforms

The position is available for four years starting from April 2022 and offers the possibility to earn a PhD degree. The group offers an intellectually stimulating and international environment with sufficient freedom to perform own research interests. There is no teaching involved. Knowledge of German is not required.
