Indeed, I am advocating that SPARQL support operations in the value space of these ucum datatypes. When this is the case such values can be specified in any unit and SPARQL queries can be written that do the right thing. When this is not the case either values have to be specified in all relevant units or the query has to check for all relevant units. Neither seems supportable to me. peter PS: Either that or everyone has to agree on a single unit for each measure type. I suggest furlongs per fortnight as the unit for speed.
