We are very pleased to announce a researcher position at Uppsala University, Sweden. Project description: This position is part of an international and interdisciplinary research project (Re)constructing a Bible. A new approach to unedited Biblical manuscripts as sources for the early history of the Karaim language (Acronym: KaraimBIBLE) led by Michał Németh (Jagiellonian University, Poland). The project is financed by the European Research Council (ERC). KaraimBIBLE is a research project the main goal of which is to create a critical edition of the entire Karaim Bible based on carefully selected sources from the 15th–20th centuries. The sources will receive grammatical and palaeographical descriptions. To achieve the research objectives the research team will create an on-line digital critical edition equipped with a lexicographical database. The platform will be a complex research instrument providing an interconnected network of data based on the technologies commonly referred to as Semantic Web. Duties: * Ontology creation, management and alignment in philology and historical linguistics * Conducting an extensive literature review on the state of the art of the Semantic Web * Development of software components for a web-based digital critical edition * Writing papers within the scope of the project * Some teaching may be required Requirements: * PhD or equivalent within the field of Computer Science, Computational Linguistics or other for the position relevant fields * Experience with programming (PHP, Python, JS) and web development technologies * Experience with database management and related technologies (eXist- db) Additional qualifications: * Very good oral and written proficiency in English Application: The application should be written in English including: * Motivation letter * CV * Publication list * Degree certificate Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicants experience and skills complement and strengthen the research project.
