The AMW Data Science School is a two-day event preceding the Alberto
Mendelzon Workshop on
Foundations of Data Management 2017 to be held in Montevideo, Uruguay. The
event consists of four
tutorials aimed at a mixed audience of students and other interested
attendees.

The goals of the AMW Data Science School are two-fold:
1. to host tutorials targeted at students (advanced undergraduate or
postgraduate level) or
other early- term researchers interested in the area of Data Management;
2. to provide a venue where young Latin American researchers can meet,
discuss, learn and
seek feedback on their topics, thus reinforcing research networks (of the
future) in the area.

In 2017, the focus of the School is Data Science. We have arranged for four
speakers of
international repute in the area of Data Management to provide tutorials on
data integration, data
analytics, responsible use of data, and parallel query processing. All the
tutorials will be in
English.

== AMW 2017 STUDENT AWARD ==

The AMW 2017 organization is proud to offer awards to support students
interested in academic
research to allow them to attend the Workshop and the AMW Data Science
School.

The Students Award will cover the full amount of the registration to the
School and Workshop, and
will also contribute, subject to funding availability, with travel
(plane/train/bus tickets) and
accommodation expenses.

The program of the school will include a poster session, where students are
highly encouraged to
present and discuss their ongoing research with lecturers and colleagues.
