My specific point here was that the RDF Semantics machinery for lean vs. non-lean graphs is not useful. It shouldn't be cited as a practical reason for the distinction between blank nodes and URIs. Are blank nodes useless? No, they are useful for some things. Should we get rid of them? No, but we should put a yellow warning sign into the spec. Should we avoid them? Yes, whenever possible/practical.
