International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems - New Submission and review system + CFP's of special issues

Dear All,

We are very happy to announce that a new online submission and review system ( <http://www.ijswis.org/submissions.html> http://www.ijswis.org/submissions.html) is on air for our International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems. Please use this system ( <http://www.ijswis.org/opeconf/> http://www.ijswis.org/opeconf/), whenever you submit a manuscript for consideration in IJSWIS (and send a copy with a mail to <mailto:Lytras@ceid.upatras.gr> Lytras@ceid.upatras.gr).

We recently completed the IJSWIS 2(2) 2006 (125 pages) issue with 3 excellent articles. Very shortly an official announcement will be made.

RESEARCH PAPERS
Events in Multimedia Electronic Chronicles (E-Chronicles)
Utz Westermann, University of California, Irvine, USA
Ramesh Jain, University of California, Irvine, USA
This paper discusses some of the fundamental issues that must be addressed in general multimedia information management systems. It presents multimedia electronic chronicles (echronicles)
as an example of emerging systems that need such technology.

R-DEVICE: An Object-Oriented Knowledge Base for RDF Metadata
Nick Bassiliades, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
Ioannis Vlahavas, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
This paper presents R-DEVICE, a deductive object-oriented knowledge base system for reasoning over RDF metadata. R-DEVICE imports RDF documents into the CLIPS production
rule system by transforming RDF triples into COOL objects and uses a deductive rule language for reasoning about them. R-DEVICE is based on an OO RDF data model, different than the
established triple-based model.

Ontology-Based Automatic Annotation of Learning Content
Jelena Jovanovic, University of Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro
Dragan Ga¹evic, Simon Fraser University Surrey, Canada
Vladan Devedzic, University of Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro
This paper presents an ontology-based approach to automatic annotation of learning objects'
(LOs) content units that we tested in TANGRAM, an integrated learning environment for the
domain of Intelligent Information Systems. The approach provides a solution for automatic
metadata generation for LOs' components.

We feel that in every issue we reach a new level of high quality thanks to our contributors and the tough review standards set by our EIC, Prof. Amit Sheth and our Editorial Board, and this will be reflected in the ISI citation index listing of our journal shortly according to our strategy. If you want to help IJSWIS:

1. We need 2-3 PhD students to help us in supporting IJSWIS infrastructure, e.g. Web Site, and Submission and Review System. Don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in.

1) We would like to thank you for your great support. Please give a help with the subscriptions. The subscription rates are extremely low. More info on this: <http://www.idea-group.com/journals/details.asp?id=4625> http://www.idea-group.com/journals/details.asp?id=4625

2) And recommend this journal to your library: <http://www.idea-group.com/recommend.asp?ID=4625> http://www.idea-group.com/recommend.asp?ID=4625
