Not quite sure what you mean by authority of subdirectories, especially when
one considers URL rewriting by web servers. And we should also be mindful
that domain names are not owned - but leased.

If you knew what was involved with URI scheme registration or URN NID
registration you might take a slightly different view on that. ;) And just
to clarify, this would not be _another_ registration, but an _alternative_
registration once an 'info:' URI scheme was registered in the IANA registry.
