6 XSLT Draft

§§ Noted: "Activities" no longer exist, we are no longer part of the XML Activity, so should change the statement in the spec.

§§ ACTION-2015-11-19-001 Carine to determine what we should say in the spec about WG membership of the "XML Activity" now that activities have no formal existence.

6.1 Testing
Discuss plan for CR exit regarding testing and test case
development.

§§ Discussion on how to take testing forward. MK: it's most productive to write tests when there's an implementation to test them against (otherwise you get the tests wrong). There are significant gaps for streaming and for packaging where new tests would be welcome and where existing (or imminent) implementations can be used to "test the tests".

§§ It would be useful to know if any of the other XSLT 2.0 implementors (e.g. Altova, XMLPrime, MarkLogic) have implementation plans and can contribute in any way. Lst time round we submitted test results for some products who didn't submit their own results.

6.2 Namespace Problem

§§ The namespace document reveals the issue that we have multiple specifications of the names in some of our shared namespaces, e.g. the map namespace.

§§ Also there's "untidiness" in terms of versioning: we add names to the namespace document even though their definition is only provisional, and may vary between versions of the spec.

§§ Essentially it's not a problem if the namespace document refers to multiple definitions of the same name, whether "versions" or "variants".

§§ Noted that the namespace document for the XSLT namespace needs updating for 3.0.

§§ ACTION-2015-11-19-002 MHK to ensure that the build system creates up-to-date namespace documents for the XSLT and MAP namespaces.

§§ MSMcQ likes the approach used in the XSLT spec of simply pointing to the spec rather than enumerating all the local names

§§ MHK notes that he's not actually familiar with the culture of GRDDL etc as used in these documents.
