I have see 2 proposals for this one: 1) Using a content-type option (suggested by Alex). 2) Using a "force-markup-to-be-well-formed" option (I think suggested by Norm). I understand #2. People like what they understand, so do I. Regarding #1: a) The specification says that the implementation can for instance tidy the HTML input if the content type is text/html. This is the only use case I have, so I find rather unsatisfying that handling this use case is left to the implementation. b) What other use cases are we trying to cover by using a content type which would not be covered by a simpler "force-markup-to-be-well-formed" option?
