Publication Request: XInclude 1.1 as a Last Call Working Draft

The XML Core WG requests publication of
   XML Inclusions (XInclude) Version 1.1
currently staged at
http://www.w3.org/XML/2014/12/xinclude-11/
as a Last Call Working Draft of a recommendation-track
document.

The URL cited above is for the most recent draft
version of the document as of 11 December 2014, designed
to be published on December 16 by having the directory
moved over to
http://www.w3.org/TR/2014/WD-xinclude-11-20141216/
in its entirety. We believe it satisfies all relevant
pubrules. The only invalid links will be fixed when
the files are installed as requested herein.

Also, as part of the publication process, please copy
http://www.w3.org/XML/2014/12/xinclude-11/local-attributes.html
to
http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude/local-attributes
(to document the new namespace name).

The WG's decision to request transition to Last Call was taken
during a WG telcon on December 10 whose minutes may be found at

SCHEDULE

We propose a publication date of 16 December 2014.

PROPOSED TITLE, ABSTRACT AND STATUS SECTIONS

XML Inclusions (XInclude) Version 1.1

Abstract
--------
This document specifies a processing model and syntax for general
purpose inclusion. Inclusion is accomplished by merging a number
of XML information sets into a single composite infoset.
Specification of the XML documents (infosets) to be merged and
control over the merging process is expressed in XML-friendly
syntax (elements, attributes, URI references).

Status of this Document
-----------------------
This section describes the status of this document at the time of its
publication. Other documents may supersede this document. A list of
current W3C publications and the latest revision of this technical
report can be found in the W3C technical reports index at
http://www.w3.org/TR/.

This is a Last Call Working Draft of XInclude 1.1 for review by
W3C Members and other interested parties. The Last Call period
ends 17 January 2015. Publication as a Last Call Working Draft
does not imply endorsement by the W3C Membership. This is a draft
document and may be updated, replaced or obsoleted by other
documents at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document
as other than work in progress.

This draft reflects changes made to the handling of attributes
in the xml: namespace.

XInclude 1.1 adds some upward-compatible enhancements to the
XInclude 1.0 Recommendation as discussed in the XInclude 1.1
Requirement and Use Cases document. The three key enhancements
can be summarized as follows:

* added support for a fragment identifier into text/plain content,

* additional processing to allow for "annotating" the post-included
   infoset with further information, and

* allow implementations the flexibility to support additional |parse|
   values.

This document has been produced by the W3C XML Core Working Group
<http://www.w3.org/XML/Core/> as
part of the XML Activity <http://www.w3.org/XML/Activity>. The Working
Group expects to advance this
Working Draft to Recommendation Status.

Please send comments about this document to the public
www-xml-xinclude-comments@w3.org mailing list; archives are available.

A Test Suite is maintained at
http://www.w3.org/XML/2013/10/xinclude-11-test-suite/ to help in
assessing conformance to this specification. The latest release
of the Test Suite includes new test cases which implementers can use
to check their conformance to the changes included in this new edition.
