Sigh. I'm really not sure how best to approach this. How does this wording strike you? On behalf of the XML Core Working Group, I must object to the decision to mark discussion of the XML stylesheet PI as either "RESOLVED LATER" or "HTML.next". The stylesheet PI is widely supported and has been in use for a long time. It is an important part of the browser API. Irrespective of whether or not removing it from the HTML5 specification would have an immediate impact on browsers, the Core WG remains concerned that its removal would serve to discourage users from taking advantage of the existing functionality and might set implementors on a path towards deprecating the feature. The Core WG feels strongly that some mention of the XML stylesheet PI belongs in the HTML5 specification as it will initially be drafted as a Recommendation.
