XML Core WG Status and Open Actions as of 2011 January 3

The XML Core WG telcons are every other week.

Our next telcon will be 2011 January 12.

Status and open actions
=======================

Administrivia
-------------
We need to consider what we want for our charter for 2011
and 2012. Liam has drafted one at
http://www.w3.org/XML/2010/10/xml-core-charter.html

Mohamed has suggested that XML Performance could become in the
scope of XML Core. He also sent email at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2010Nov/0012
and follow-up at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2010Dec/0001

John has requested that we add language such as "consider the
development of a standardized subset of XML for use cases where
full XML is inappropriate" so that we can do something like MicroXML.

Micro XML or reconciling XML and HTML
-------------------------------------
John raised a discussion of James Clark's micro XML:
http://blog.jclark.com/2010/12/microxml.html

Norm is chairing the HTML/XML Task Force tasked to look into
"reconciling XML and HTML". The mailing list is
public-html-xml@w3.org archived at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-xml/

XPointer registry and the xpath() scheme
----------------------------------------
Norm sent email requesting re-instatement of the xpath() scheme at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xpointer-registry/2010OctDec/
0002

The email list to track discussions about this registry is
public-xpointer-registry@w3.org archived at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xpointer-registry/

Liam plans to process something here soon.

XML Processor Profiles review
-----------------------------
We have been asked to review the XML Processing Model WG's
Last Call Working Draft of "XML processor profiles" at
http://www.w3.org/TR/2010/WD-xml-proc-profiles-20101130/

Glenn wanted to see some rationale/use case for moving from
one profile to the next.

ACTION to Glenn: Send your request for rationales to the
xproc comments list: public-xml-processing-model-comments@w3.org

John is happy with the document as it stands.
