Greetings Doug, Al is correct. We discussed this at the recent face to 
face in Boston and agreed to enable @role to be incorporated into another 
language if that is what the language designers want. This is in addition 
to its present definition in the xhtml namespace. The XHTML Role Attribute 
Module will be updated in the near future and published as a second Last 
Call Working Draft.
