The Uncertainty Reasoning for the World Wide Web Incubator Group was approved and announced on 5 March 2007. Those of you on this list have already joined the XG and were cc'd on a targeted Call for Participation that I sent out a few hours ago. That CfP went to people who had participated in the URSW workshop and others who had expressed interest in this work. In the weeks since the XG started, a small group of us have been making sure we understand the details of the W3C procedures for joining the XG, both for W3C Members and for the unusually large number of Invited Experts we expect to participate. The CfP email was the result of our understanding and clarifying those processes. We are hoping the time spend doing that will speed getting others on board. Within the next few weeks, we are hoping to have identified the majority of people who wish to join the XG even if some joining as Invited Experts may not have completed the approval process. At that we will schedule an initial telecon to set a work plan and begin the work. With the range of geographic locations represented by our Yahoo mailing list, I expect setting times for the phone calls will be a challenge, and the schedule for regular calls will also be a topic for discussion. We appreciate your patience as your co-chairs learn the nuts and bolts of running a W3C group. We hope to be doing "real" work shortly.
