Dear SSN XG participants and followers, Congratulations on publishing the final report today. For information, below is the note Ian Jacobs sent to the W3C Membership earlier today. And we published a home page news: http://www.w3.org/News/2011#entry-9134 Best regards, Coralie ------- Forwarded message ------- From: "Ian Jacobs" <ij@w3.org> To: "W3C Members" <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org> Subject: Semantic Sensor Network XG Final Report Published; XG closed Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2011 17:15:22 +0200 Dear Advisory Committee Representative, I'm pleased to announce publication of: Semantic Sensor Network XG Final Report http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/XGR-ssn-20110628/ The Semantic Sensor Network Incubator Group's mission was to begin the formal process of producing ontologies that define the capabilities of sensors and sensor networks, and to develop semantic annotations of a key language used by services based sensor networks. The group extended their charter to illustrate the framework's relationship to OGC Sensor Web Enablement standards. In the report the group described where ongoing research and standardization efforts of the SSN ontology are likely to benefit from their work and also where further work is required. They identified using the SSN ontology in a Linked Sensor Data context and to bridge the Internet of Things and the Internet of Services. The group also recommended its participants and followers join the W3C Provenance Working Group. Read more in their conclusion: http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/XGR-ssn-20110628/#Conclusion_and_Recommendations The group plans to create a W3C Community Group to focus on the maintenance and extension of the SSN Ontology. Congratulations to the XG. With this publication, the Semantic Sensor Network Incubator Group is now closed.
