SSN-XG Meeting Minutes 14 July 2010

Hi,

Thanks to those who attended the last telephone conference.
And a special thanks to Krzysztof for scribing.
The minutes of the meeting are here: http://www.w3.org/2010/07/14-ssn-minutes.html

Soon after we ended, I've received Michael's apologies for not being able to participate. So, here is some extra information for him and for anyone willing to help him on the Ontology development activities.
The order of the two topics on the agenda was swapped to give him an extra chance to participate to this teleconf.

The agenda was:
1) Ontology: completion of pending tasks (Michael)
- Operating and survival conditions
- Deployments, Systems and Devices

2) Ontology: preparation of delivery (Laurent)
- generation of documentation, annotations, missing definitions

Preparation of delivery (Laurent)
---------------------------------

On topic 2, I explained how I have generated the documentation, first adding the annotations using the approach specified in http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/Terminology_and_Term_Provenance_in_the_Ontology and then running a script (adapted from http://vocab.org/2004/03/toolchain/) which uses these annotations to split the content into different sub-parts.
For more information, see http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/Ontology_documentation_and_metadata (and I have closed ISSUE-7).

I'll continue to tune the documentation tool so that it delivers what I'd like to have but at this stage, it already allows to check if definitions have been documented or not (the summary table gives a quick overview of these definitions).

During the meeting, I also introduced the work I've done on terms (please note that the last version of O&M is slightly better).

Completion of pending tasks (Laurent for Michael)
-------------------------------------------------

The objectives is to complete two sub-parts of the ontology:
- Operational/survival range
- Deployments, Systems and Devices

The Operating Model wiki page is here:
http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/Operating_Model

The changes made by Michael (bottom part of the wiki page) were discussed last week on the mailing list and approved during the teleconfs (see the minutes).

ACTION: Michael to deliver the OWL file for the Operational/survival range
(Laurent to help with the annotations, Payam to help with the examples)
See: http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/track/actions/24

Michael is also asking for inputs from everyone to complete the Deployment, Systems, Devices part of the ontology. The wiki page :
http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/Deployments,_Systems_and_Devices

The corresponding action is: http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/track/actions/39
(it is allocated to Michael because of the tracker limitations. )

Post-teleconf tracker cleanup
-----------------------------

I've done a thorough pass on the tracker to try to use it more efficiently, adding the products (= the XG deliverables), attaching issues to products (= the sub-deliverables e.g. finish a sub-part of the ontology), and attaching actions to issues. I hope this will help you to understand what's going on. Please, contact me if you can contribute to any of the activities listed here or even to new ones which have not been listed yet.

You can access the "product dashboard" here:
http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/track/products
The issues and actions which are related to the ontology are listed here:
http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/track/products/3

Please refer to ISSUE-4, ISSUE-10 and ISSUE-11 for your messages relative to the three sub-parts of the ontology we are currently trying to finalise.

Cheers
Laurent
