Re: Children Protection on the Social Web

Thanks Misha,

What you/DanBri say about me is true, however, I've been away from
online safety for well over a year now so I would suggest that there are
other people better placed to talk about young people on social media.
The person that comes to mind immediately is Annie Mullins, head of
content for Vodafone Global [1]. She's a key figure in online safety in
Britain and elsewhere and hugely respected. She's written UK government
guidelines on social media before now (the kind of thing that ends up in
school curricula).

I'd be interested to hear what she as to say about the CEOP panic button
thing (fwiw. I think CEOP and Facebook are both probably more wrong than
right and both are being bloody minded which is never a good thing but
hey, that's just me).

Dan A and/or I could ask her to speak to the group if others want this
topic discussed.

Cheers

Phil.

The UK's Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre[1] has recently been on a campaign [3][4] promoting their "Panic Button" [2], which has led facebook to installing it on their profile pages.

Danbri mentioned that Phil Archer did some work with the internet content rating alliance (ICRA), on PICS related work for child-protection oriented content labelling (have cc'ed Phil in this email).
