Pittsburgh meeting logistics (22 Oct and 23-24 Oct)

Dear all,

Some logistics regarding the Pittsburgh meetings:

--  Friday, 22 October
    Joint meeting of LLD XG with DCMI Architecture Forum
    "Application Profiles for Linked Data: Models & Requirements"

    * Attendees at this meeting must be registered -- at a minimum for the day -- at
      the DC-2010 conference (http://dc-2010.org)

--  Saturday and Sunday, 23 and 24 October

    * For attendees staying on after DC-2010, the price of their room will
      remain the same (if staying at the Hilton).

    * The meeting room itself is free, and Jeff will bring a data projector
      from OCLC.

    * Catered food is rather expensive, so we will go to a food court for 
      lunch.

    * The meeting room fits 40 people "classroom style".  Those of us arriving
      early for DC-2010 can take a look at the room and, if possible, arrange
      for an alternative seating style.  At any rate, we should have enough
      room based on attendance estimates and expected guests.

    * We have learned that wireless service costs $350 per day (!) - and Hilton
      guests will be unable to access their wireless connectivity in the
      conference area.  The chairs feel that connectivity is essential, at
      least for Saturday:

      -- We need the phone bridge and IRC for scribing and taking actions, not just
         for local participants but also for allowing remote participants to follow
         the meeting or dial in.

      -- There appears to be a strong opinion in favor of finishing the meeting
         at 12:00 on Sunday.

      For wireless, we propose:

      -- That the follow-up part of the meeting on Sunday
         morning, just three hours, be held and scribed without
         wireless connectivity.  Maybe someone will be able
         to access the Web without local wireless, and others
         could perhaps follow on their Web-enabled phones?

      -- Some LLD participants may explore whether their
         employers might sponsor wireless connectivity for
         Saturday.  If we cannot find sponsorship for this,
         we propose to "pass the hat" at the Saturday meeting.
         If we have 25 attendees (with guests), this would
         work out to under $15 per person -- a regrettable
         imposition, but we see no better options...

Meeting participants should please let the chairs know if any of these
logistics present a problem.  It would also be helpful for us to know if
anyone is interested in participating remotely, via Zakim and IRC.
