As promised I've added a code fragment to the SMIL section of the report:
I've only done a fragment on having SMIL react to events elsewhere in the app (it plays a warning video if your "entertainment" expenses exceed $100:-), because this one fitted in easily. I could do an example of the reverse (SMIL acting as controller) too, but it would require quite a bit more code, as I can't see a way to fit it in with the example code in the rest of the document.
