I thought I’d draw this group’s attention to an e-mail in the x3d-public e-mail list where a thread has been recently running on the subject of ‘Hyperlink and form support’ in 3D scenes/environments. <http://web3d.org/pipermail/x3d-public_web3d.org/2018-December/009743.html> Some years ago, I was quite into X3D (the XML representation of VRML), but haven’t touched it for a long time, but I still follow the subject. I noticed this thread and immediately thought of XForms being a suitable fit as a forms solution for X3D. All the same things that you’d want to do in 2D host environments, like HTML and SVG, also exist in 3D environments but how you interact with the ‘controls’ quite literally brings a new dimension to how they are represented for the user. I’m not sure what it’d take to be able to demonstrate XForms, or at least the potential of XForms, in an X3D scene but it would be interesting. Philip
