Well this is what I have so far. The meeting will be in Hursley Park near Winchester, Hampshire, UK. Make for the main reception when you arrive. The link below [1] gives full details of travel to Hursley Park. In short the big airports to aim for are London Heathrow or London Gatwick. Both are an hour or so away so taxi recommended (book one) - public transport is possible but only for the determined. If you hire a car note that parking is a bit of an experience in the hotels I recommend below - you may need to book a space. Also of course we drive on the wrong side of the road! I also attach details of the large local hotels. I would recommend that you all stay in Winchester city itself. That way you can get around on foot in the evenings. You will need a car or taxi to get to Hursley though as it is about 5 miles away. Note that only the first three hotels listed in the first attachment are actually in Winchester. The others are about 20 minutes or more away. The Wessex and Royal are slap-bang in the centre, the Winchester is 5 minutes on foot from all the restaurants etc. A good one for Bob is Hotel Du Vin - a boutique hotel in Winchester specializing in fine wine - details in the second attachment. There are also plenty of smaller guest houses and B&B that I personally like - but we are not allowed to recommend any these days. You can always ask me what I think of one if you fancy trying one. If anyone has time for a bit of sight seeing I have attached link [2]. The City itself has quite a bit to see. The Cathedral (one of the oldest), King Arthurs table and the College (14th centaury public school not unlike Hogworts). Nearby we also have Stone Henge. Finally I have had an idea that I wanted to float. On Wednesday evening we have the opportunity to witness the ringing of the bells at Winchester Cathedral. We can go into the ringing chamber at the top of the tower and see it all in action. Link [3] below gives a super high level introduction. This is an mysterious art (even to most Brits). If people are interested we can arrange a group vbisit. Sent by: public-ws-resource-access-request@w3.org There was some discussion on 8/18 about a link to a logistics page for Hursley. It would be helpful if that were posted relatively soon. - gp Unless stated otherwise above: IBM United Kingdom Limited - Registered in England and Wales with number 741598.
