Dear members of the Web of Things Working Group, I'm relaying the announcement to the group's primary public mailing list to notify the group of its charter extension. Best regards, Xueyuan Jia, Manager, Member Communications -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Web of Things Working Group Charter extended until 2 April 2026 Date: Mon, 27 Oct 2025 22:49:34 +0800 From: Xueyuan Jia <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, [This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs] The Web of Things Working Group Charter [1] is hereby extended until 2 April 2026. The mission of the Web of Things Working Group is to counter the fragmentation of the Internet of Things (IoT) through the specification of building blocks that enable easy integration of IoT devices and services across IoT platforms and application domains. These building blocks complement and enhance the use of existing standards; provide a common description across different ecosystems, standards, and communities; and provide prescriptive definitions where appropriate. This extension will enable the group to publish several reports, including retiring the now obsolete Group Note for the Web of Things (WoT) Binding Templates, replacing it with the Web of Things Binding Registry, publishing the First Public Working Draft for the Web of Things (WoT) Thing Description 2.0, and issuing an updated Working Draft for the Web of Things (WoT) Profiles. The group is also continuing work on the preparation of a new charter proposal for AC review. More information about the Web of Things Working Group can be found on its summary page[2], including information about group Chairs, Staff Contact and instructions for joining the group. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org>, Staff Contact for the Web of Things Working Group. This extension follows section 4.6 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/policies/process/20250818/#charter-extension Thank you, For Philippe le Hegaret, VP, Technical Strategy, Dave Raggett, Staff Contact for the Web of Things Working Group; Xueyuan Jia, Manager, Member Communications [1] https://www.w3.org/2023/10/wot-wg-2023.html [2] https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/wot/
