It is true that a lot of feathers were ruffled in the transition from JOSE to COSE by ruthlessly eliminating some bad crypto choices.
I consider that a big net win, even though it may make life harder for platforms that don’t have anything but that bad crypto.

I’m not aware of other kinds of “differing opinions” about COSE.
