Presentation slides at OCF

mccool presents slides for OCF meeting

mccool: OCF NDA prevents disclosing meeting proceedings
... changed "bridging" to "spanning" to differentiaie from OCF
   bridging
... changed "standardised metadata" slide to show more
   architecture detail

dsr: the slide is meant to show semantic metadata enables
   interoperability

mccool: wanted to show how TD is hosted by each platform

<dsr> [actually the different categories of metadata listed on
the left of the slide, not just semantics]

   sebastian: asks for clarification
... suggest rearranging diagram to make it clear the "semantic
metadata" is bound to the platform

mccool: can update the diagram to clarify using arrows and
   indicate binding
... w3c shows slide showing all the related standards
... architecture slide, change "proprietary" and "legacy" to
   "native" as more neutral terminology

sebastian: missing the point of reusing existing domain
   knowledge e.g. schema.org, other ontologies

Also the W3C tetris diagram is way out of date

yongjing: "native" implies WoT native, may want to clarify

   johannes: IoT instead of native?

   rrware: platform native

<Zakim> dsr, you wanted to suggest change of colour scheme to
improve contrast white on yellow is hard to read

   <ying_ying> [9]Original PowerPoint file

      [9]
https://github.com/w3c/wot/blob/master/current-practices/wot-getting-started-riot-summit-2016.pptx

mccool: where is the source for the slides?

discussion of alternate terms vs. "native"

mccool: maybe remove the entire external subsystem and just
   show pure WoT architecture

jhund: show OCF protocol binding, client, and server connection

mccool: relationship slide to show that the broader scope of
W3C can open OCF to other ecosystems
... suggest that a set of people both OCF and W3C members work
out a proposal for scope and deliverables and submit that for
   publication

this done in a way that respects OCF NDA

mccool: could also have a closed session under NDA but initial
step is a document to propose scope and deliverables
   ... summary slide
... proposes to add the benefit of enabling automated tooling

sebastian: add "..." for other ecosystems to previous slide
   ... semantic web *technology*

<Zakim> jhund, you wanted to talk about tooling

jhund: agrees that tooling is a benefit "ecosystem of tools" is
   what drives the web

   mccool: scalable tooling

jhund: expecting an open source ecosystem to emerge around this

dsr: also talk about an open marketplace of services
   ... vendor and platform independent

   mccool: overlaps with OCF

dsr: it expands the reach of OCF

   mccool: OK
... close discussion, other agenda items?

f2f arrangements

jhund: plan an open day for public participation
... good outreach and exchange of ideas

   mccool: planning for 4 days

kaz: we have several topics for our f2f in February, IG
meeting, WG meeting, PlugFest and OpenDay. there could be a
possibility we might omit OpenDay and concentrate the other 3
topics this time, but we should discuss what to do.

dsr: silicon valley would have a lot of interested people for
open day and it would be very valuable outreach for the IG/WG

jhund: we should gather proposed speakers resp. outreach
   possibilities into the wiki

   dsr: cloud companies, google cloud

   mccool: amazon, universities
   ... brainstorm on wiki page
... final pass on slides and present in morning

jhund: how to split IG/WG for the meeting

   mccool: will charter be done?

dsr: should be done by then

   <kaz> Let's check with Wendy.

mccool: working on PRs to implement changes from feedback
   ... AOB?
... added logos to the page of W3C IG members
... others that need to be added?
   ... AOB?

kaz: why don't we add pictures from the Lisbon PlugFest to the
   slides?
   ... will send to mccool

   mccool: adjourn
