Dear IG
Another topic in today's WebConf was the state of our wiki and Web pages. The consensus among the call participants was:
- The wiki should serve us members to quickly find necessary information (working documents, WebConf links, F2F dates, status updates). It is not the first goto page for "outsiders".
- The communication to the public (who are we, what do we do, how do you join) should be collected on the WoT IG Web site (https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/). It is not very up to date, yet it has a lot of information that we often need to present for outreach, recruitment, and marketing.
Based on this, I would further optimize the wiki:
- Nobody on the call considered the links under https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_Page#Interest_Group as frequently used.
o I will remove the section again, since the information is already collected under https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_Page#Other_Resources further down.
- There was no feedback that anyone uses the information given under https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_Page#Topics. It is completely outdated and the useful parts should already be in the Technology Landscape<http://w3c.github.io/wot/landscape.html> and Use cases across application domains<http://w3c.github.io/wot/wot-ucr.html> documents.
* I will remove this section.
* I will harvest https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Terminology for anything useful and include it in the Current Practices.
* https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Communications_and_Collaboration_for_Web_of_Things_IG is already linked twice in the relevant sections.
* Anyone who has ties to the other linked wiki pages, please use the https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page&action=history to recover what might still be useful.
* Why is https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/How_does_W3C_compare_to_other_organizations not on a central W3C page and linked from our public Web page?
With best regards,
Dr. Matthias Kovatsch
