It falls into your category of "centralized approaches". It's bound to SensorML as a description language.. - OASIS WS Discovery: https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ws-dd This falls into your category of "distributed discovery". - Linked Sensor Data: http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/CTS.2010.5478492 I haven't mentioned this in the telco, but it could be interesting for the TF. Based on OGC standards, this approach transforms sensor metadata/data to RDF and offers a SPARQL endpoint. So, it alls into your category of "semantic based discovery".
