Hi, Though I may be mistaken here, but doesnt the patent describe the update mechanisms of linux/unix repositories(RPM,deb, etc)? I've done some searching and many of the linux distributions have had package management pre-1995. If all the Apple patent implies is to check, then copy and install an updated version of a program automatically, this has been done as far back (as I can tell) to 1993. Would this not constitute prior art? Of course, an alternative discussion is, can the W3C not implement a different system? Say: Widgets are locally cached versions of online host systems? It would good to have a discussion board available for this, so people can interact and pool resource. I believe the HTML5 is a must for the future of the web.I hope I can assist more somehow.
