2009/5/31 <jjcogliati-whatwg at yahoo.com>: > The next question is why not just wait until the complete MPEG-1 can be decoded? If there is still no decision on a suitable codec for HTML5 when MPEG-1 becomes royalty free and MPEG-1 decoding starts showing up in things like gstreamer's good set of plugins then the full MPEG-1 might be worth considering then. Despite the blatant FUD from Apple and Nokia on the topic, Ogg Theora looks like (a) going into the browsers (Firefox, Chrome) and the websites (Wikimedia, Dailymotion), leaving them to play catchup. At that point the standard could be updated to reflect actual practice. - d.
