The spec itself documents these in comments in the source. Search for 
"v2" in the spec source.

The codecs issue is being still actively worked on by a number of parties, 
as it has been for over a year now; the removal of the sections from the 
spec doesn't affect this. I still hold high hopes that one day we can find 
a solution to this that all vendors are willing to implement.
