Hey Niklas/Bryan and others,

Thanks for putting this together - this is a great idea! I'll try to fill out some of the sections for WebView2 when I have time, but in the meantime if someone was going through and generally getting it filled out, this is the place in the WebView2 docs that would probably be most helpful, as it has quick overviews of different capabilities of WebView2, such as Permissions handling<https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/concepts/overview-features-apis?tabs=dotnetcsharp>, Cookies<https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/concepts/overview-features-apis?tabs=dotnetcsharp#cookies>, etc.

Overview of WebView2 features and APIs - Microsoft Edge Developer documentation | Microsoft Learn<https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/concepts/overview-features-apis?tabs=dotnetcsharp>

Cheers,
Nic

You don't often get email from niklasmerz@apache.org. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>
Hi everyone,

In the last WebView-CG meeting<https://github.com/WebView-CG/meetings/blob/main/2024/2024-03-28.md> we mainly discussed the WebView compat data project<https://github.com/WebView-CG/Compatibility-Data-Project>. The plan is to document behavioral similarities and differences of WebView in markdown files in this repository.

Dominique brought up the idea of building a website to host these files and encourage more people to contribute. Caniuse.com is a website that lets you see how well different web features are supported in different browsers. Caniemail.com is a new website that does the same thing for email features . The code for caniemail is open source under the MIT license so we can make this fit our idea. This led to the excellent idea of building the site caniwebview.com.

Thanks to the huge help of Bryan Ellis we managed to build up the site over the weekend and put up some compat data documentation from our usage and challenges report.

We encourage everyone to check out caniwebview.com<https://caniwebview.com/> and contribute by submitting PRs with compat data or other changes for the site. Your help is much appreciated!

Let’s discuss this idea and some open questions<https://github.com/WebView-CG/Compatibility-Data-Project/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Acaniwebview> in the next meeting.

Thanks to Dom for the great idea and name and Bryan for the help building up the sites code. That’s it for this little update. Hope to see you soon.

Kind regards
Niklas
