Re: CC-BY-SA needs to be wrapped in div, but not CC-BY?

Hi, Pearl:

Can you point to the cc-by-sa content you are working on? Without an example, I’ll try and address your questions:

  1.  Why would making modifications to cc-by material change the attribution? Are you changing it from cc-by to cc-by-sa? If so, I’d recommend you write your own examples instead of pulling in someone else’s.
  2.  Essentially, we’re asking folks to get approval to remove the attributions. But the functionality is not required, as non-administrators do lots of tasks after the go/no-go decision has been made.

I might be missing something, here. An example of what you’re trying to do would be great.

I understand that CC-BY-SA content should be avoided like the plague. But when unavoidable, content snippets should be wrapped in <div class='license-cc-by-sa'> as outlined in the External Attribution<http://docs.webplatform.org/wiki/WPD:External_Attribution> instructions.

However, I wanted to clarify usage of CC-BY material so I'm 100% clear on using external content:

1) No need to wrap text in a div, even if I make modifications to the original content?

2) Only administrators should be able to remove external attributions once they are set? (I tested on the practice page and was able to uncheck checkboxes and save -- I'm not an administrator though.)
