Re: From W3C's eCommerce Interest Group of the 1990s to Today's Web Payments Discussion

There's a big difference between the practice of law-making, and the development of science to help develop civilisations and democracies more broadly, or systems of "the rule of law".

People use www most often, to grow as individuals.  Economic rationalisations of accessibility can probably best be considered around energy costs, as efficient systems probably use less minerals over a given lifecycle. 

We're along way down the trek, from the days of a local marketplace.  Whether it be the shipping container, or the telephone, or the combustion engine that started that change; each of those things started as ideas, and in the market of ideas / knowledge, it certainly is not a level playing field between those who act as a natural entity, and those who act as an agent for an incorporated entity.

As time ticks by, profits, like life, is time based.  But natural legal entities can't fold, and reincorporate as a new natural entity, transferring their assets as a means to find the most profitable path...

Httpa / accountability (or something along those lines) is the key.  

It's like turning on a light.  In most situations, people need and enjoy a bit of sunshine.  It's energising...

Science never develops very well when their's broken bits embedded into the scientific method. 

An unfortunate reality for some perhaps, but overall, generally in the interests of the people to fix those broken bits.  A GFC is a rather good example of what can happen when the broken bits don't get fixed.  Perhaps a GFC is a fiction.  Depends on the perspective.  Guess many companies survived, not sure about the natural things in life.  How many of them, either didn't survive, became significantly damaged or continue to struggle as a result on a primary, secondary and tertiary basis.  

Overall however, it's not just accountability (security) but moreover, functionality.
