[work] Agenda: WPIG Work Session - Thursday, September 10th 2015

Dear work session folks:
I took the action to fill in the Commerce section of the Capabilities document.
https://w3c.github.io/webpayments-ig/latest/capabilities/index.html

Here are my initial thoughts on the two sections. The 6.5 still needs a careful integration. But if there is time on the call today, I'd like a 5 minutes of feedback if possible.

As normal I won't be on the call until 10:35 ET or so due to a conflict.

Best regards,
David

3.5 Commerce

Commerce is activity that enhances the process of selling either for consumers or merchants. It may be a merchant offering discounts to a customer, or a customer discovering new products or savings opportunities. In all cases, commerce activities are closely related to payment, and indeed, common industry practice in constructing native apps (mobile) proves a strong correlation between commerce capabilities and the construction of payment capabilities.

Commerce capabilities include principally recognition of offers, support for multiple-tendering, and some support in the calculation of taxes.

6.5 Commerce
(overview of capabilities to be integrated with what's already on the page.)

Digital Marketing Incentives promote:

*         Brand

*         Product

*         Category

*         Merchant

*         Payment Instrument

For a given payment instrument, need to know:

1) Can it be applied to this purchase (i.e. items match promotion)?

2) Can it be applied to this purchase along with other selected payment instruments (including EBT)?

3) Is the deduction for the instrument "taxable", or does it reduce the taxable total (some coupons and EBT)?

4) What is the total savings associated with using this instrument, including taxes?

5) Is it NOT allowed for any item in the transaction?
