Hi Web Machine Learning Community Group participants,

This is a call for review of the Web Machine Learning Community Group (WebML CG) Charter update. This update [1] proposes to make the WebMCP API a new WebML CG deliverable, using the following non-normative documents as initial input:

- Explainer [2] with background, motivation, goals and use cases
- Proposal [3] with early API design considerations

The API is expected to evolve based on further contributions, including input received from browser implementers, related open-source projects, web developers and users.

Please review the Charter proposal and signal your support by adding a comment or a thumbs up reaction to the Pull Request [1]. Alternatively, you can also respond to this message by 18 September 2025. To be eligible to vote, you must be a CG participant.

With 2/3 of votes cast in support, this proposed new Charter will be operational on 25 September 2025.

The WebMCP API and this plan has been discussed in recent meetings [4,5].

Thank you for your support.

Thanks,

-Anssi (WebML WG/CG chair)
