Chair's overview - 2024W04

Hi all!

We start the week with our process in place, which unblocks us from moving forward with actual changes to our drafts.

As lazy consensus considers silence as implicit assent, the chair must be proactive in ensuring that each proposed change is adequately discussed. To such end, this is the first instance of a "chair’s overview”, a weekly message in which the chair provides the group with an overview of the issues, PRs and discussions to look at. More about it in our new CONTRIBUTING.md [1] file.

This week I kindly invite you to look at the following:

- PR #45 [2], which leaves the draft functionally untouched while converting from ReSpec (HTML) to BikeShed (Markdown)
- PR #52 [3], which removes the leftover and superseded spec/README file
- issue #53 [4], which provides a general overview of what needs to be taken care of to have a coherent web presence

Additionally, as PR #45 stands a good change at being merged, it might be a good idea to start building upon it with focused PRs that implement the changes required to get to [5], which is the document through which I’ve been tracking, integrating and representing consensus and which now lives in the repository as per the request of a few members.

Finally, I’d like to express my most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to those of you who have actively and constructively participated in rebuilding a sense of process and direction. It took a while and, on my end, a few wrong turns, but we’ve made a lot of progress and laid good and solid foundations for the work that awaits us. This being my first time chairing a group, I’m still learning the ropes; I can’t overstate how significant some of your feedback and contributions have been in helping me figure out the next steps.

As always, feel free to get in touch, both publicly and privately, for just about anything that’s on your mind.

Have a lovely week,
J.
