Re: Resigning from chair

Hello Erich,

Nice to “meet” you! Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it. It is also very nice to see renewed interest in WebID matters. While that is not always the case, things that we keep coming back to, even after years, often prove to be more significant than others in the long run.

The WebID CG is a tricky group to manage; I’d be happy to continue chairing and editing towards a new 2024 ED and beyond but I can’t do that unless at least a few people from the silent majority publicly recognize what we've done since circa November 2023 as a legitimate continuation of what came before. It is the only way (that I could think of) to address the implications of forking, railroading changes and disrespecting the group’s legacy that doesn’t go against the very spirit of a CG.

Also, while the above is a prerequisite for *me* to continue chairing, I cannot see how any further progress can ever be made without it, regardless of who might be chairing and editing.

In the meantime, I’ve gone back to the implementation side of things, starting from reprising a very old idea to use Named Information URIs to “generalize” WebID-TLS beyond the RSA algorithm. I’m always happy to “exchange notes” - anytime!

Best,
Jacopo.
