RE: WOFF-ACTION-157: Find out what table ordering mtx applies prior to compression

Folks,

I checked the most recent MTX code and found no evidence of table reordering for LZCOMP compression. Currently, the tables are processed and the data is written out to the output stream in the order they appear to be listed in the table directory (except for those table that are pre-processed according to the MTX spec and where some glyph data is separated into different streams).
I do remember seeing some old notes containing MTX algorithm descriptions where an attempt to group and reorder tables was described, but my guess at this point is that it either wasn't implemented or did not produce expected gains. I am afraid that the notes are long gone and it is hard to dig up any specific info - at this time we can either close this action as a non-issue or launch our own investigation on whether a specific table order may in fact improve Brotli compression gains.

Thank you,
Vlad
