Top-Level Media Type for Fonts: Analysis for the upcoming proposal

Hello Working Group,

In advance of a proposal for a new top-level media type for fonts, I
was eager to gather some hard data.  Thus, here is an early analysis
of the opportunity along with the corresponding data.  Collaboration,
feedback and suggestions are all most welcome.
