Yes you are right, I know that, but I am also sure that you know 
_Well the mistake has already been made, so we might as well use that mistake to justify future decisions._ 
to be a bad argument.

The way I see it is that if WebAuthn is already getting burdened by legacy issues this early, then something may have gone very wrong.
