Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: CFC: addition of "protocol_handlers" to web manifest

I can confirm that we Microsoft also has strong signal that this is a necessary feature for PWAs.

I really like this idea - but is there any evidence that users of the web want this?

The reaction on Twitter was positive (https://twitter.com/search?q=url%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fweb.dev%2Furl-protocol-handler%2F&src=typed_query&f=live<https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Durl%253Ahttps%253A%252F%252Fweb.dev%252Furl-protocol-handler%252F%26src%3Dtyped_query%26f%3Dlive&data=04%7C01%7CJohn.Jansen%40microsoft.com%7C3142080b94194d4b91bc08d94cf15862%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C0%7C0%7C637625421736118229%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=2OUMSl3HMTb1XHE7kJ%2BCQgqPQ7UtY2ANbw%2FVpDn5LU8%3D&reserved=0>) and there are 39 stars on the bug (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1019239<https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbugs.chromium.org%2Fp%2Fchromium%2Fissues%2Fdetail%3Fid%3D1019239&data=04%7C01%7CJohn.Jansen%40microsoft.com%7C3142080b94194d4b91bc08d94cf15862%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C0%7C0%7C637625421736128223%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=caZOCGVXMx1j5eefdlx%2BZdS%2FydIfwJpaLQkKqXCLCnE%3D&reserved=0>), plus some partners are interested in this (that I can't disclose here). What is the user experience when a user clicks on a link for which they don't have a scheme handler?

On Chrome, it will do nothing user-visible upon clicking the link and on the console log an error message (see attachment).
