Since I've recently subscribed to this list, I thought a short introduction is in order. I am Peter-Paul Koch, freelance front-end consultant in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I maintain http://quirksmode.org, currently the most important source for browser incompatibility information on the Internet. I have been hired by Vodafone to help them create widgets, research mobile browser compatibility, and several other jobs. Part of my job is to review the Widget specifications and suggest changes. I should stress that I'm in no way a Vodafone representative, though; if I represent anyone it would be the common (desktop) web developer who wants to get started with widget creation. I am mainly interested in interoperability; another one of my jobs is the creation of a test widget that will run on as many platforms as possible, including those that strictly speaking do not support W3C Widgets but do offer some way of running HTML/CSS/JavaScript content in a browsing environment without (necessarily) accessing the Web every time the widget is run. I'm currently reading through the current drafts and have some questions that I'll ask in a separate mail. Thanks, -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ppk, freelance front-end consultant, agent, and trainer http://www.quirksmode.org/about/ ------------------------------------------------------------------
