You are correct, in your observations, all good points. I literally wanted to look at the simplest requirement to compare, which you've done in spades.  Thanks!

You've easily convinced me that I was wrong, I misread what you are proposing, (I guess I was thrown by the HTMLInput.attributeRegistry.define),  I hope you will address the more "complex" things I'm after (the ability for all these solutions to work well together) as the proposal progresses, and I feel a burden lifting from my shoulders as we speak!
