How are safe zone and cropping/masking of such icons handled? Will the operating system also apply additional padding to prevent parts of the icon from being cropped? Won't that mean that the size of the actual icon content may be different depending on the mask/style that the operating system uses (and whether themed icons are enabled)? For normal maskable icons, that padding is added by the icon, so the size always appears the same. But for themed icons, I think this might not be the case. For example, if a monochrome icon was the shape of a square and the operating system also used perfectly square icons, no cropping and padding would be needed, so the provided icon would be the full size of a displayed application icon. However, if the operating system displayed circle icons, it would need to add additional padding around the original icon before masking it to the circle, to prevent parts of the icon from being cropped. This would cause the provided icon to be smaller i.e. represent a smaller portion of the whole application icon. I hope it's clear what I'm asking. But maybe I'm not correctly understanding how themed icons work... -- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/manifest/issues/1091#issuecomment-1566056247 You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
