I'm still strongly against the direction @benjamingr is pushing and believe it's based on a misunderstanding of this feature. But I've made that case already in these comments https://github.com/whatwg/dom/issues/1033#issuecomment-974863889 so I won't repeat myself. I just wanted to be clear I am against any additions to address this use case since I think it's a bad use case.
