On the Firefox side, we don't think we need BIP. We are happy to do "ambient badging" and feel it's sufficient for our users at this point in time. This may change in the future, hence me saying we should incubate this as we gather more user and developer feedback at scale.

The counter proposals are what is shipping in Safari and in Firefox Preview.
