I think for this feature, the naming is already too late to bikeshed further as it is shipping in multiple implementations - the actual API for decoding an image missing from the web platform is something that came up in the last F2F and will be dealt with elsewhere. (Where that will be, that is still unclear. :( )

For now I don't think there is much the TAG can do here. Apologies this discussion derailed - hope we won't have a situation like this again. Thanks again for bringing this up with us.
